Ravens Tree Farm is a Family-Owned farm in the beautiful Susitna Valley of Alaska. Our Farming roots go back many generations.
That enduring spirit continues on today with Ravens Tree Farm, where we follow and seek to adapt and improve upon the traditions handed down from generation to generation, a way to farm in harmony and peace with the Earth, and provide for ones family and the Community.
We raise bees, poultry, rabbits, and grow a wide variety of herbs, berries, vegetables, mushrooms, and other healthy foods, free of any added hormones, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers. And we're always trying new things to see what will work in our short but intense Arctic growing season climate.
With the COVID-19 pandemic gripping the world, there has never been a better time to help ensure food security.
Ravens Tree Farm is registered with the USDA. The Name "Ravens Tree Farm" came from a family discussion, and you can see from our header photo why. Some Folks believe the Raven is a sign of good fortune.
A few more items while we prepare for Spring
We deployed this unique style of "Top Bar" Beehive with the help of a local Craftsman and innovator. We find it to be a more natural way to raise bees because it mimics their natural environment, and is well-suited for our unique environment. As can be seen in the photo, it has a window to observe the bees without disturbing them.
We have developed a cold-tolerant breed of chicken that is 100% free-range, but of course we provide them with shelter, food and water. The flock has been self-sustaining for over 10 years.

Life on an Alaskan Farm. This Moose was happy.
Sometimes, an American Bald Eagle will try to claim The Ravens Tree, but the Ravens gang up and drive them away. Until then, the chickens wisely seek cover.
Among the many varieties of plants we grow here on Ravens Tree Farm, are some that require a little extra attention. However the rewards of fresh clean food that one has grown themselves is priceless.
